Practicing radiography by an unqualified personnels is not a strange thing in Sri Lanka.
Navaloka hospital employed unqulified radiographers to perform mammography and dexa scans also done by the unqualified personnels in many practices. Radiolologists are performing ultrasound scans and there by hindering the promotional and oversees employment prospects of our innocent radiographers.
Many private hospitals in Colombo have unqualified radiographers.
This is more a question of national policy.Big sharks of the politics are monopolising the trade.
There is a good saying in Sinhalese,
"Watath niyarath goyam ka nam kata kiyamuda a amaruwa"

Why cant be together for dismiss unqualified persons from our profession.we must establish a legal body to regulate the practices out side the government hospital such as medical council.I think we can do it with the help of GRTA ,SRTSL,Atomic energy authority & Ministry of health. As well as launching seminars for the public about radiation protection and importance of practicing qualified radiographers during x-ray examinations will be help to overcome this problem.
